SS Educational Services

How SSES Started

Within the End Point Assessment Organisation there are companies offering from 1 End Point Assessment for 61. So how do you choose? And why should you choose SS Educational Services?

Usually, the ones that offer less EPAs are specialists in a certain sector. They can still be a large organisation but have chosen to limit their offering to areas that they feel either knowledgeable or passionate about, and probably both.

Our owners have a strong background working with across the standards we EPA. Suzanne has worked in early years since commencing her NNEB studies many years ago to work in early years. Her work experience initially included working on a children’s ward and nannying. In recent years they became foster carers where they have gained an immense amount of experience in the children, young people and families’ sector, and Suzanne has recently completed the CYPF L5 standard.

For 15 years Jeff and Suzanne owned 2 successful day nurseries, with before and after school provision, where Suzanne was a hands-on owner. During this period, they first became involved in apprentices. As employers of apprentices, they thought they should understand the apprenticeship journey, and so Suzanne undertook what was then the D32/D33. From the nursery Suzanne went on to work in the local college assessing and teaching apprentices completing childcare related courses. At this time she gained her teaching qualification and Playwork Level 3. She then went onto consulting for a nursery chain to develop their own training provision.

The move away from frameworks into standards and having an independent assessment at the end was something our owners supported strongly. After supporting a university enter the market for degree apprenticeships, Suzanne felt a pull back to her roots, as throughout all these ventures their main focus had been childcare. Developing an End Point Assessment Organisation, supporting the next generation of the workforce in early years, children, young people and families, seemed the next, and final, step.

Back to the original question, why chose SSES against other EPAOs? It’s like choosing a nursery, or school, or your next job. Firstly you look at the credentials. Not only do we have Ofqual and ESFA, but we have a combined 40+ years of experience, and qualifications, in our sector. And secondly, that all important sense, feeling, you get when you know something is right. Why not give us a call, or drop us a line, and find out if you get that positive vibe – we are sure you will.
