SS Educational Services

Overview of The Children Young People & Families Standards

Earlier this month we have looked at two of the standards that SS Educational Services, as an End Point Assessment Organisation, will End Point Assess. We have had posts on both the Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Level 4 and the Children, Young People & Families L5 – Sses (sseducationalservices.co.uk)

Both standards are designed for people working within the care sector in a number of roles and establishments, including residential children’s home or respite units; within health organisations or educational settings, in both the public and private sector.

Both the Level 4 Practitioner and the Level 5 Manager have 2 pathways, depending on whether the apprentice is working in the community or within residential care.

The apprentice has to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and provide the result. Interestingly, the Early Years standards do not ask for this, but as an End Point Assessment Organisation, we have added to our Gateway requirements confirmation that the apprentice has an enhanced DBS.

Level 4 – As a practitioner you will be working with children, young people and families, including carers, to achieve positive and sustainable change in their lives. You will demonstrate a passion to care for and about children, young people and families.  At the end of the apprenticeship the high quality of your practice will be making a real difference to those that you work with.’*

Level 5 – As a Children, Young People and Family Manager you will ensure direction, alignment and commitment within your own practice, your team(s), your organisation and across partnerships to help children, young people and families aspire to do their best and achieve sustainable change. With a focus on excellence in practice and improved performance, you will encourage Children, Young People and Family Practitioners to gain the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours that will enable them to actively support each child, young person, young adult and family to achieve their potential.’*
